The Horrors‘ frontman Faris Badwan has told NME he’s returned to Cat’s Eyes with classical singer Rachel Zeffira, and is working on a ‘very different’ record when compared to the 2011 self-titled debut.

The pair’s more recent work on the soundtrack for The Duke Of Burgundy appears to have signalled the change. “It was the final straw for Zeffira,” Badwan said. “No more singing softly. It hasn’t turned into some weird opera thing, but we definitely found a good place.”

Badwan released his fourth studio album, ‘Luminous‘, with The Horrors in May last year. It brought to an end a three-year gap between releases for the band following 2011’s marvelously eighties-tinged ‘Skying‘.

There should also be new music from them sooner rather than later after bass player Rhys Webb told Clash fresh material is being worked on with producer Paul Epworth.
