Foo Fighters have already been signed up to headline Glastonbury 2016 – if a ‘source’ at The Sun newspaper is to be believed.

Dave Grohl‘s band had been booked to top this year’s leg, which kicks off officially tomorrow morning (June 26th), but a misplaced jump, a tumble, and a broken leg suffered by their frontman in Sweden earlier this month forced a cancellation, moving Florence & The Machine up one slot in their place.

“Dave was beyond gutted about pulling out of Glastonbury, especially at such short notice,” a source has told The Sun. “But Michael was quick to book him for next year as he’s desperate for the Foos to headline. He knows they’ll go down a storm at Glasto. Dave agreed within seconds.”

If true, it would closely mirror the fortunes of U2, who were initially ready to headline Worthy Farm for the first time in 2010 but were replaced late on by Gorillaz due to an accident suffered by their own frontman, Bono.

Instead, they were back to perform on the Pyramid Stage twelve months later along side Coldplay and Beyonce.
