Muse have shared another short snippet of their new album ‘Drones‘ as work continues in the studio with producer Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange.

There’s not all that much to go by, but the brief riff featured on the Instagram clip below does at least hint at the ‘rockier’ sound the band are hoping to achieve on the follow-up 2012’s ‘The 2nd Law‘, which was far more of a dubstep inspired affair.

“The last two albums, we sort of veered away from our instruments a little bit,” frontman Matt Bellamy has previously told Radio.com.

“We sort of focused on things like synthesizers, drum machines and various electronics and stuff. I kind of feel like on this next album, we’re going to veer back towards musicianship again and focusing on our own instruments: guitar, bass and drums.”

It should all fit in well with Download Festival, where Muse will headline along side Slipknot and Kiss in June.
