Rob Da Bank is planning to add another event to his festival portfolio and will launch Common People in Southampton next spring.
The man behind Bestival and Camp Bestival has earmarked the May bank holiday weekend of May 23rd and 24th for the new festival to take place on Southampton Common, with ‘legendary stalwarts of the festival scene and guaranteed crowd pleasers’ promised.
“This isn’t a camping show, it’s not a tents, wellies and car packed to the rafters experience,” Rob Da Bank has said. “It’s a metropolitan two-day show easy to access and open to all ages.”
Unsurprisingly, it looks like there’ll be plenty of other things going on over the weekend aside from the music; ‘an enchanted wonderland of eye-popping attractions and fun-fuelled escapism’, as Rob Da Bank has described it.
Since launching on the Isle Of Wight in 2004, Bestival has grown for humble origins to become one of the most popular fixtures on the UK festival circuit. Earlier this year, it was headlined by Outkast, Foals, Beck and Chic featuring Nile Rodgers.
