U2 make new album ‘Songs Of Innocence’ available for free on iTunes

iTunes users will be will be finding a special gift from U2 this morning after the Irish supergroup made a surprise announcement at yesterday’s (September 9th) launch of the new iPhone 6 and iWatch.

The band performed ‘The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)‘ at the Californian conference which launched Apple’s latest devices, and then confirmed that their new album ‘Songs Of Innocence‘ will be available for free exclusively on iTunes until October 13th.




“We wanted to make a very personal album,” frontman Bono has told Rolling Stone. “Let’s try to figure out why we wanted to be in a band, the relationships around the band, our friendships, our lovers, our family. The whole album is first journeys — first journeys geographically, spiritually, sexually. And that’s hard. But we went there.”
