The Orwells have said watching the Arctic Monkeys from the side of the stage during their recent supporting stint brought the Backstreet Boys to mind.

The Chicago band have already questioned the perceived repetitiveness of Alex Turner‘s onstage banter which they witnessed during a 2014 North American tour with the Sheffield band, prompting Turner to respond with: “They should have been out trying to get laid instead of watching us every night.”

Orwells guitarist Matt O’Keefe has now touched on the subject again during an interview with Fake DIY. “They try and mash together genres,” he said. “They’re kind of like the hip Backstreet Boys or something. The set list was always the same. If you saw the show once, you saw every show that they played. I mean, we learned lessons from good things that they did, but then also – let’s not fucking do that.”

The Orwells released their debut album ‘Disgraceland‘ last month, check out Live4ever’s verdict here.
