‘Blur’s future still uncertain’, claims Alex James

Blur bass player Alex James has insisted the band’s future remains uncertain despite their busy year of festival appearances and studio work.

“You’re guaranteed to get a different answer depending on which one of us you ask and what day of the week it is,” he said after a recent performance at Hungary’s Sziget festival when asked by the Daily Star about their future plans.

“We’re bad at talking to each other but there’s a lot of love in the room. I have no idea how long we’ll carry on. Being in Blur now feels just like it did at the beginning. There’s no pressure. We’re playing better than ever. Every show has been wonderful.”

Blur’s gig at Hyde Park in London last summer, arranged to celebrate the end of the 2012 Olympic Games, spawned a number of worldwide festival bookings during 2013, while the group’s frontman Damon Albarn subsequently confirmed they have also spent time in the studio this year in between live appearances.
