Wayne Coyne stripped down to his birthday suit as the Flaming Lips delivered a typically eccentric, and undoubtedly impressive, cover of David Bowie‘s ‘Heroes‘ during an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in the US yesterday (May 16th).
The cover can be watched below, and was performed after the band had also aired a live version of the track ‘Try To Explain‘ – taken from their 2013 thirteenth studio album ‘The Terror‘.
“Why would we make this music that is ‘The Terror’ – this bleak, disturbing record? I don’t really want to know the answer that I think is coming: that we were hopeless, we were disturbed and, I think, accepting that some things are hopeless,” frontman Wayne Coyne said of the album when it was announced earlier this year. “Or letting hope in one area die so that hope can start to live in another? Maybe this is the beginning of the answer.”
