Bruce Springsteen has joined forces with the Dropkick Murhpys to record a new EP whose proceeds will go towards the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

“Our friend Bruce Springsteen joins us for a new version of ‘Rose Tattoo,’ featuring his vocals, plus two live acoustic tracks recorded at the Gibson Showroom in Las Vegas just four days after those tragic events,” the band have said in a press release.

Springsteen got in touch with the band after the attacks on Boston in April. Along side the resultant re-recording, acoustic versions of ‘Jimmy Collins’s Wake‘ and ‘Don’t Tear Us Apart‘ are also included on the EP, which is released to iTunes today (May 15th).

“Bruce actually called us up the day of the bombing and asked what he could do to help,” Dropkick Murphys guitarist James Lynch adds. “We didn’t have to reach out. He was there for us.”

The Claddagh Fund, a charity run by Ken Casey of the Dropkick Murphys, will be in direct receipt of funds from sales of the EP.
