Ronnie Wood expecting new Rolling Stones album

Ronnie Wood has said there will ‘no doubt’ be a new Rolling Stones album in the future despite admitting the band have made no concrete plans for another studio effort.

The Rolling Stones last released a studio record in 2005 with ‘A Bigger Bang‘; an album which is now more notable for the subsequent world tour which became the highest grossing of all time until U2 broke the record last year with their own 360 trek.

And when asked whether a follow-up is in the offing by Classic Rock magazine, Wood replied: “Well, not planned, but no doubt there will be.”

During the interview, the guitarist also reflected upon the Paris recording sessions which resulted in the new tracks ‘Doom and Gloom‘ and ‘One More Shot‘, and described a more focused, swifter approach to laying down new material now their hedonistic past is behind them.

“It was really focused, really nose to the grindstone,” he continued. “And we kept everything very simple, basic. I think we should go to the basic essence of the songwriting of Mick and Keith. They seem to be thriving at the moment, very creative.”

“We recorded ‘One More Shot’ on the Tuesday, ‘Doom and Gloom’ on the Wednesday, overdubbed on Thursday. In the old drug days, it would have taken us six months to do that. We had a new angle on it this time.”

The Rolling Stones will play the first of their US anniversary tour dates tomorrow (December 8th) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
