Morrissey: ‘The Smiths are never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to reunite’

smithssqIt came as no surprise yesterday when Johnny Marr‘s manager swiftly moved to deny a fresh round of rumours which claimed The Smiths were ready to reunite next year, and now Morrissey has followed suit with his own emphatic denial.

A short, to-the-point statement was released to NME by Marr’s manager Joe Moss which read: “It isn’t happening. We are fully focused on preparing Johnny’s new album for release and booking shows for 2013.”

And a spokesman for Morrissey has come to the party today (October 3rd) by handing Rolling Stone about as equivocal a denial as you could get, declaring: “The Smiths are never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to reunite – ever.” That final ‘ever’ seals it for us.

It was celebrity gossip website Holy Moly which sparked off the latest whispers after reporting they had been told by ‘several credible sources’ that the legendary band were ready to reform in 2013, and had already booked an appearance at Glastonbury next June.
