After posting a short, cryptic message to their Twitter followers last week apparently hinting at the imminent arrival of new material, Blur have now confirmed they will debut two new tracks on the Internet next month.
On Monday July 2nd, the band will air ‘Under The Westway‘ and ‘The Puritan‘ via a live video feed on Twitter, which will be recorded in a secret London location. Both tracks have previously been performed live on one occasion each, but the short Twitter gig will mark their first outing in a full band setting.
Frontman Damon Albarn has again given no indication as to whether the songs are set to form part of a new, full length album, instead merely stating that they were ‘written for Hyde Park’. “I wrote these songs for Hyde Park and I’m really excited about getting out there and playing them for people,” Albarn has said.
The first track will be performed at 6:15pm, with an interview with the four bandmates also planned ahead of the second track’s unveiling at 7.15pm. Both tracks will then be immediately available to download after the performance, with a limited edition double A-side single due for release on August 6th.
