Pete Doherty using Amy Winehouse lyrics on new solo album

petedohertywidePete Doherty has revealed he plans to use lyrics written by Amy Winehouse before her death last year on his forthcoming solo album.

Speaking to NME, Doherty explained how the new track ‘Bird Cage‘ – set to be a duet with singer Suzi Martin – features lyrics written by Winehouse.

“We’ve been cracking on,” he continued when discussing the solo record. “I’ve got a hard drive full of new songs and a few of them have taken more of a definite shape. Things that were ad libs and off the cuff, we’re putting more into traditional song structure.”

The album will be Doherty’s follow-up to the 2009 debut solo effort ‘Grace/Wastelands‘, and is being recorded with producer Adem Hilmi. To date, six tracks have been confirmed along with ‘Bird Cage’;  ‘Down For The Outing‘, ‘Siberian Fur‘, ‘Nothing Comes To Nothing‘, ‘Shine A Light On Your Misery‘, ‘Ba Ba Ba‘ and ‘Dust On The Road‘.
