Coldplay. Heard of them? No? Well fear not as the band will be receiving some much needed exposure in the US next week after accepting an invitation to perform on American Idol.
According to reports, Coldplay will air two tracks on the show when it airs on May 3rd, but have not yet revealed which songs will form a part of their short set.
The news comes after Chris Martin and co. also appeared on the UK final of X Factor last December, when the band’s Roadie 42 blog admitted they were ‘playing up to the haters’ by performing on the show, adding:
“The downsides are obvious. It now becomes effortless for the cool kids to lay out their case against the band. For some, The X Factor is the devil. It is regularly painted as the source of all evil in the current music industry. Indeed, as an angry young man back in my own student days, I’d have ranted at length against it.”
Other musical acts to have already appeared on American Idol this year include LMFAO, Nicki Minaj and Lana Del Rey.
