Paul McCartney is to re-release his second solo album, 1971’s ‘RAM‘, later this year.

The album is the only release to be credited to both McCartney and his first wife Linda, and was written on the couple’s now immortal farm in Mull of Kintyre, Scotland.

The new remastered deluxe box-set edition will come complete with a 112-page book, photo prints, copies of handwritten lyrics and four CDs, as well as a making of documentary entitled Ramming. It is due for release on May 21st and follows a similar re-issue of Sir Paul’s debut solo album last year.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is an album from a long, long time ago, when the world was different,” McCartney has said in announcing the release.

“This is an album that is part of my history – it goes back to the wee hills of Scotland where it was formed. It’s an album called ‘RAM’. It reminds me of my hippie days and the free attitude with which was created. I hope you’re going to like it, because I do!”
