Alan McGee is preparing to auction off a large collection of musical treasure troves and memorabilia this weekend as he has ‘no interest in the past’.

According to the Manchester Evening News, unreleased Libertines tracks and early Oasis recordings, along with around 100 other items, will go under the hammer as McGee prepares to rid himself of various artifacts which built up during his time at the helm of Creation and Poptones.

“I’m just clearing out all this rock and roll rubbish from my house,” McGee has said. “I’ve no real interest in the past and have sort of moved on from the music scene – I’m more interested in books and films now. If anyone asks if I’m selling all this stuff because I’m skint, it’s not true: I live in a very big house in the country.”

Auctioneer Paul Fairweather has said the hoard is already generating a lot of interest, with Oasis fans especially keen to get their hands on the rare collectables. “We’ve already had a lot of interest from Oasis fans and fans of other Creation Records bands like My Bloody Valentine and Primal Scream,” he said.

“We’re expecting people to be bidding both in person at the auction and online from around the world.”

The sale will take place at the Omega Auction house in Stockport on February 25th.
