Elbow‘s special, one-off gig at the Manchester Cathedral next week will be screened live in the city via a BBC Big Screen event at at Exchange Square.

Cllr Mike Amesbury, exec member for culture and leisure, Manchester City Council says: “We’re really pleased that the BBC has chosen Elbow and Manchester for their latest homecoming gig and have been working closely with them to ensure the event in Exchange Square will be a night to remember.”

The gig, which has been arranged in conjunction with BBC Radio 2, will see Elbow performing with the Manchester-based Halle Youth Choir, who feature on the band’s 2011 Mercury-nominated album ‘Build a Rocket Boys!‘. Support at the gig will be provided by hotly-tipped The Slow Show, who were handed their break via the BBC’s Introducing initiative.

The show is set to be broadcast live on BBC Radio 2 from 9pm on October 27th, and fans will also be able to watch the performance direct from Manchester via the Radio 2 website or the BBC Red Button interactive service.
