After a press conference lasting nearly an hour in which Noel Gallagher carefully offered his new solo album news and thoughts on Oasis‘ split, Liam Gallagher has responded with a one-word tweet which simply reads: “SHITBAG”.

It is being left to interpretation as to what the comment is referencing, though Noel’s comments on the Paris fight which ended with him walking out on the band is likely to have been of prime concern to Liam and his fellow Beady Eye bandmates.

While giving his take on the scrap, Noel criticised former Oasis bassist and current Beady Eye guitarist Andy Bell for not intervening, in doing so shedding further light on his ‘lack of support’ comments immediately after news of the split broke, and also stuck by his insistence that Liam had been unusually violent that night.

“I’ll never forget. I’m looking at Andy and he’s constantly counting how many shoes he’s got on, and he didn’t say anything,” he told the press conference.

“Liam stormed out of the dressing room and on the way out – and I’m glad it never ended like this – he picked up a plum and threw it across the dressing room and it smashed against the wall. Now part of me wishes it kind of did end like that because that would have been a fucking great headline: ‘Plum Throws Plum And Finishes Rock’n’Roll Band’.”

“So then he leaves. For whatever reason he went back to his own dressing room, picked up a guitar and started wielding it like an axe. It was a real unnecessary violent act. So he’s swinging this guitar around he nearly took my face off. It ended up on the floor and I put it out of its misery.”

“There were people in the band who were there and weren’t saying anything. We were all involved in it and nobody was saying anything. So I said, ‘Do you know what, I’m out of here’.”

The press conference will be streamed in full via Noel Gallagher’s new official website later today.
