Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has spoken of his pride in their new album ‘Suck It and See‘ ahead of the record’s release date on June 6th.
Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, Turner outlined the confidence he feels in each of the Sheffield four-piece’s releases, saying they ‘just want people to hear it’.
“I get nervous about gigs sometimes, but not with records – I always get excited,” he said. “With every record we’ve done, the moment we’ve finished it, we’ve been really proud. We just want people to hear it – to share it.”
Later, Turner also discussed the band’s rapid rise to fame, which saw them achieve consecutive UK number one’s with both their first two singles and debut album ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not‘.
“One thing just led to another until that thing became, ‘We’re going to play Glastonbury’,” he continued. “That was a turning point. You do this thing that seems huge, you’re really nervous… then you come back down to earth.’”
Arctic Monkeys will follow up the release of ‘Suck It and See’ with two homecoming shows at Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium, as well as a series of summer festival appearances.
