The new collaborative effort between Blur‘s Graham Coxon and former Coral guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones will be made available to download from next month via converse.co.uk.
The track, entitled ‘Desire‘, was commissioned by Converse, and will also feature British singer Paloma Faith. In a recent chat with NME, Coxon outlined what fans can expect from the new song. “It’s like kinda tripped out voodoo sort of London town thing,” he said.
“I’ve always liked the idea of me actually writing songs and girls singing them, and I’d seen Paloma on TV and thought, ‘Wow man, she’s crackers!’. And I was always a fan of The Coral – I used to watch them live. Bill’s a very good guitarist.”
Later, Coxon also discussed the decision to accept the project from Converse, accepting that 20 years ago he may have made a different choice.
“I did have to ask people when I first got involved in it,” he admitted. “Whether its kosha or it isn’t, I mean, where I come from – ‘indie land’ 20 years ago – you didn’t do stuff like that. But I’m quite happy now. Especially now the song’s coming out and working with Bill and Paloma.”
‘Desire‘ will be released on April 5th.
