Paul Weller was married for a second time last week at a low-key ceremony in Capri, Italy, reports the UK’s Sun newspaper.
Weller is said to have tied the knot with his backing singer Hannah Andrews, whom he became engaged to in April this year. Weller first met Andrews while she was contributing backing vocals to his 2008 album ‘22 Dreams‘, after which she joined the legendary former Jam frontman on tour. At the time of the rumours of engagement, Weller was quoted as saying: “It’s funny to think that after all these years I’ve finally met my soulmate. All I can say is that I am very, very much in love.”
According to a source quoted in The Sun, the Italian ceremony provided the private occasion that the couple craved. “Paul didn’t want a public wedding,” the source said. “He and Hannah agreed to just invite a select few family and friends. They didn’t want to make a big deal about it.”
The news is another plus for Weller in a year which has also seen him enjoy huge success in his professional life after his recent solo album ‘Wake Up The Nation‘ was nominated for the prestigous Mercury Music Prize, his first appearance on the shortlist since 1994.
