Looks like someone from Mariah Carey’s Army-sized entourage could be out of a job this week after the singer blamed a stumble on stage on a pair of shoes that she ‘didn’t want to wear’. Mariah took the embarrassing stumble while performing to 100,000 people at the recent Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix event yesterday and was quick to put the blame on her wardrobe. “Hold up, I want someone to help me take these shoes off. I wasn’t supposed to be wearing them,” she told the crowd, before a flustered assistant rushed to the stage to remove the offending shoes which were no doubt burned immediately.

After a short break since the release of his sixth studio album ‘Is There Nothing We Could Do’, Mercury-winning songwriter Badly Drawn Boy is set for a return with his new record ‘It’s What I’m Thinking Pt.1 – Photographing Snowflakes’. ‘Too Many Miracles’, the first taster from the new album, instantly bears all the hallmarks of one of the brightest British talents of the past decade, and points to yet another memorable release from Damon. With his familiar heart-felt lyrics, understated delivery and knack of great melody all present and correct, it’s great to have him back.

Green Day mainman Billie Joe Armstrong is to appear in the stage production ‘American Idiot’, which is based on his band’s 2004 album of the same name. The New York Times reports Armstrong will play the role of St Jimmy and will perform the songs ‘Homecoming‘, ‘Last Night On Earth‘, ‘Know Your Enemy‘ and ‘St Jimmy‘ during the show. Back in April, Green Day played an impromptu set of their own during one of the stage-shows.

After rumours that her autobiography was rejected last year for being too boring, Mick Jagger’s former wife Jerry Hall’s new book has apparently managed to dish some dirt on the Rolling Stones frontman by claiming he gave up heroin for her at the beginning of their relationship. “I told him I couldn’t see him if he took drugs, saying, ‘Go away and don’t come back until you’re straight.’ He succeeded – he had amazing willpower,” she wrote. The Mail on Sunday newspaper has described the new book as a “coffee-table style picture-book”, which certainly represents a different tone to the planned memoirs for which she was reported to have handed back a $500,00 advance last year.

Out on October 12th, Zola Jesus, aka American singer/songwriter Nika Roza Danilov’s latest EP ‘Valusia‘ is another in an increasingly long line of impressive releases on the Sacred Bones label, with the lead track ‘Sea Talk’ boasting an atmosphere and depth which Kate Bush at her peak would have been proud of.

Gossip star Beth Ditto has revealed she is ready to start a family with her partner Kristin, and would like to name her Yoko…as you do. “Kristin is the one for me, for sure, and we’ve talked about having a baby and if it’s a girl we will call her Yoko,” the singer explained.
