More details have been released today of the re-scheduled U2 tour in North America which will begin next May. The Irish supergroup have now announced a selection of support bands for the new dates which will include Florence & The Machine and Interpol.

Acclaimed US band Interpol will provide support for seven gigs in Chicago (5th), Montreal (8th/9th), Toronto (11th), Philadelphia (14th), East Rutherford (20th) and Minneapolis (23rd). Florence & The Machine, who have grown into one of the brightest new British talents over the past two years, will join the tour in East Lansing (June 26th) and Miami (June 29th).

Snow Patrol, a band which U2’s official website describes as ‘U2360’s most popular support act’, will return to the tour for a date in Mexico City on May 14th. It will also be an all Irish affair in Denver (May 21st), Salt Lake City (May 24th) and Edmonton (June 1st) when The Fray hit the road. US songwriter Lenny Kravitz completes the list of support acts and will appear in Seattle (June 4th), Oakland (June 7th) and Anaheim (June 17th and 18th).

The tour dates were originally cancelled earlier this summer when U2 frontman Bono was injured onstage during rehearsals.
