John Lennon’s entire solo output is to be re-mastered and re-released to mark the late songwriter’s 70th birthday. According to the BBC, Yoko Ono has been working behind the desk with producers in New York and at Abbey Road to tidy up some original recordings from Lennon’s eight studio LPs. “By remastering 121 tracks spanning his solo career, I hope also that those who are already familiar with John’s work will find renewed inspiration from his incredible gifts as a songwriter, musician and vocalist and from his power as a commentator on the human condition,” she said. “His lyrics are as relevant today as they were when they were first written.”

Vuvuzelas. Love them or hate them? Apart from debating the whereabouts of Wayne Rooney it’s been the biggest talking point amongst fans of this year’s World Cup. Well organisers of the T In The Park festival, which will be held between 9th-11th July, appear to be very much in the ‘against’ camp after it was revealed they have sent out an e-mail to ticket holders informing them of their intention to ban the horns from the event. The e-mail told festival-goers the Vuvuzelas are ‘not suitable for a music festival’.

It must be a bittersweet job being the volunteers manning the gates at festivals. Free to get in, but stuck miles away from the action as the event hits it’s stride. One man sticking up for the plight of the volunteers at last weekend’s Glastonbury festival was songwriter Pete Lawrie, who took his band out to the edges of Worthy Farm to perform a series of gigs on the Saturday evening. Check out some of the footage below:

Kings Of Leon’s huge gig at London’s Hyde Park is set to get underway this evening, and details of the stage times have now been released. The Features, who are signed to the Kings’ new record label will be up first from 4pm-4.30pm, and will be followed by The Whigs (4.50pm-5.30pm), The Drums (5.50pm-6.35pm) and The Black Keys (7pm-7.50pm) before Kings Of Leon themselves take to the stage at around 8.30pm.

Legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page is being sued by a folk singer for allegedly stealing the track ‘Dazed and Confused‘, which featured on the group’s debut album, from him. Jake Holmes is claiming he filed for a copyright of the track two years before Led Zep recorded their own version.

After months of arguments and protests, it is now being claimed their could be some light at the end of the tunnel for the UK’s digital radio station BBC 6Music. The Times newspaper is reporting that an un-specified DJ has told them: “The optimism is growing. There is a feeling that they will not just kill us straight off.” According to the paper, the overwhelming public response since plans for the station’s closure were announced have forced the BBC Trust into a re-think as they prepare to reveal whether they will give the green light for the plans to go ahead.
