U2 guitarist The Edge has said he believes the band’s huge success can be attributed to the close bond between the four members. Speaking in The Sun newspaper, he said: “I’m acutely aware of what Adam and Larry and Bono are doing, whether or not we catch each other’s eyes. It’s like some sort of dance. There’s some element which is much more mysterious, which is the way the magic happens to be working that night, and you’re only a small part of that.”
The band was formed in Dublin in 1976 when Larry Mullen Jr., then 14, posted a notice at their school, Mount Temple Comprehensive, advertising for musicians to form a band. Amongst those who answered the call were Paul Hewson (Bono), Dave Evans (The Edge)and Adam Clayton.
They are gearing up for two dates at London’s Wembley Stadium this weekend as part of the huge ‘360 degrees’stadium tour which has been taking place across Europe since the end of June, during which time they have appeared at venues such as The Nou Camp in Barcelona and San Siro in Milan.
The tour ends in Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on August 22nd, before they begin a US leg in September.
