Paul Weller has confirmed the details of his eleventh solo studio album, which will be released early next year, reports Stereoboard.
Paul Weller has said the current trend for band reunions is ‘driving him potty’, and believes it is damaging the prospects of new bands.
Last month, The Stone Roses became perhaps the most high profile, and most surprising, example of a band reuniting, following previous reformations by the likes of Suede, Blur and Pulp over recent years.
Paul Weller is to join a number of rock stars and stand-ups for a night of music and comedy at the Hammersmith Apollo in aid of the homelessness charity Crisis.
The gig will take place in London on Tuesday, December 20th, with Weller set to be joined by the likes of Graham Coxon, and comedians Tim Minchin, Jo Brand and Ross Noble at the fundraising event.
At a time when rumours are rife of David Bowie never setting foot in a recording studio ever again, we learn that Paul Weller has been putting the finishing touches to his next album. Both had a huge impact on the music business spanning two decades over the Seventies and Eighties – Paul with his first band, The Jam, and Bowie with the ever changing reinventions of himself which embraced a wide range of musical genres.
In 2011, neither holds a dominant presence on the charts anymore, but one is certainly more active than the other and still has that fire in his belly – the one known as the Modfather. It is now Paul who is challenging himself with ventures into different musical styles and, although he’s unlikely to appear on stage looking anything like Ziggy Stardust anytime soon, his recent music is just as colourful in character.
Paul Weller has offered up a special treat for his fans today in the form of a brand new track entitled ‘Starlite‘.
The song will be accompanied by a selection of remixes and will be available on 12″ vinyl and digital download formats.
Speaking about ‘Starlite’ Weller, who released his last studio album ‘Wake Up The Nation‘ last year has said: “Here’s a brand new track called ‘Starlite’ in time for the Summer. It’s not from the forthcoming album, it’s just for NOW! It’s part Balearic beat, poetry and psychedelic music. I hope you like it. PWx”
Paul Weller is to design a range of clothing for Liam Gallagher‘s successful label Pretty Green, it was announced today.
Miles Kane probably wishes he’d never mentioned the fact that Noel Gallagher appears on his debut solo album. Perhaps he underestimated the huge media storm it would trigger and the distraction it would cause in the build up to what is a very important album for him. Anyone that has heard ‘Colour Of The Trap‘ will know by now that Gallagher’s appearance is a treat but by no means overshadows the breadth of top drawer songwriting that is peppered all over this impressive debut.
