It was going to happen sooner or later – 19 year young Jake Bugg has cracked the Billboard 200 albums chart for the first time.
A week and a day after his appearance on David Letterman, where he performed his single ‘Lightning Bolt‘, the self-titled album landed at No 75. Bugg will begin a North American tour in September, starting in Washington, DC.
The 58th anual Ivor Novello Awards which celebrates songwriting ability announced its 2013 nominees shortlist today. The annual awards are highly prized because they are voted for by songwriters and composers.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House hotel in central London on Thursday, May 16. Jake Bugg’s ‘Two Fingers‘ is up against ‘Laura‘ by Bat For Lashes and Emeli Sande’s ‘Next To Me‘ in the Best Song Musically and Lyrically category. Alt-J, Plan B and The Maccabees will go head to head in the Best Contemporary Song category while Plan B is also nominated for Best Original Film Score category for his film Ill Manors.
