Damon Albarn launches The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows online after tour cancellation

Since the launch of his latest project The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows via a European tour this month is no longer possible, Damon Albarn instead introduced it online during a Boiler Room session last night.

Inspired by the landscape of Iceland where Albarn has been a frequent visitor since his earliest days with Blur, The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows was written and composed entirely in the country and takes its name from the John Clare poem Love and Memory.

European dates were due to start in Brussels on May 7th, and would’ve included London shows at the Barbican on May 26th and the Palladium on June 3rd. He’d have been getting ready for a second show in Brussels tonight, while the other cities on the agenda were Budapest, Eindhoven, Paris , Lyon, Nantes, Luxembourg, Dublin, Copenhagen and Reykjavik.
