If there were any lingering doubts, Rage Against The Machine‘s reunion has now been officially rubber-stamped for the Coachella Festival in April.

The band’s first gig since 2011 will take place on Coachella’s opening Friday of April 10th, while Travis Scott and Frank Ocean are also set to top the US’ premiere festival. Among the other leading names on the bill are Lana Del Rey, Calvin Harris, Run The Jewels, Thom Yorke, FKA twigs, Idles, Lewis Capaldi, Charli XCX and Anna Calvi.

The unassuming winding down of Rage at the start of the last decade began not long after the gig at Finsbury Park in London had celebrated their Facebook-led march to the UK’s Christmas Number One in 2009:

“Of course, De La Rocha and the rest of his RATM band mates have always had their minds on more serious matters than chart-topping success,” our review of the show reads. “Township Rebellion was introduced by the frontman with an angry condemnation of Israel’s blockade of Gaza. His audience, naturally, gave full and vocal support.”

“Next up was a real belting performance of Bullet in the Head, which was followed by Morello inviting Jon and Tracy Morter on to the stage. The two people who made it all happen were given a huge ovation, as well as a huge novelty cheque from the guitarist.”
