Paul McCartney has been unveiled as the first Pyramid Stage headliner for Glastonbury 2020.

Returning to Worthy Farm for the first time since 2004, McCartney has said he is ‘excited to be part of’ Glastonbury’s ‘anniversary celebrations’, while co-organiser Emily Eavis has in turn said the Beatles icon was their first choice to join the festival’s 50th birthday party. “So excited,” she wrote on social media.

“Having @paulmccartney coming back to headline the Pyramid next year is an absolute dream come true. There really was no one that we wanted more for the 50th anniversary.”

McCartney is the second major booking for next year’s event to be officially confirmed after Diana Ross was revealed to be filling the hugely popular, Sunday afternoon ‘Legends’ Slot’.

As for who’ll be joining Paul McCartney as a main stage headliner, Taylor Swift remains odds-on with bookies, while Kendrick Lamar, Foals and Arctic Monkeys are some of the other favourites.
