A public vote handed Elton John the Headline Performance Of The Year prize at last night’s UK Festival Awards for his appearance at Henley.

“We are absolutely delighted to have won Headline Performance of the Year for Elton John and his band’s truly unforgettable opening night at Henley Festival in 2016,” Henley CEO Charlotte Geeves has responded. “Elton’s spectacular performance, in the stunning setting on the riverbank in Henley-on-Thames, set the tone for last year’s Henley Festival, with every performer really giving their all. We’re looking forward to revealing next year’s line-up in January 2017.”

It was Creamfields that took home Best Major Festival, while another good year for Kendal Calling was added to with the Best Medium-Sized Festival win. There was success too for Liverpool’s live music scene, with Sound City and Music Week both collecting awards.
