TOY are back with a new album and arsenal of books as their main inspiration.

“One of the books we all swapped around was Electric Eden by Rob Young,” bass player Maxim Barron explains. “The sound of folk music and how it progressed in a modernising world interested us and the idea that people were looking back to forms of music that were in danger of being forgotten, looking back at a golden age.”

“Bands like Incredible String Band, The Langley School’s Music Project and The Wicker Man soundtrack were on quite a bit and I think that influenced the sound in some way.”

Clear Shot‘ is due for release on October 28th through Heavenly – first track ‘Fast Silver‘ can be heard below. “Another book we were reading was Wreckers of Civilisation: The Story of COUM Transmissions,” guitarist Dominic O’Dair continues.

“I think their story has been an influence and is almost a continuation from the folk thing. The Death Factory where they lived is in Hackney.”
