The first Glastonbury headliner for 2016 has been confirmed, and it’s one of the long-term bookies favourites.

Coldplay will return to top the Pyramid Stage for a fourth time on Sunday, June 26th following headline performances in 2002, 2005 and 2011. The band were a late bet to lead the festival last year, and have remained at the front of bookies’ thoughts consistently into this year.

Their booking looked more likely still back in November when outdoor UK shows left a convenient Glastonbury shaped hole in their diary.

Muse, Adele, Taylor Swift, Radiohead and Foo Fighters are some of the other acts with good odds of headlining the already sold-out Worthy Farm event in June, while Jeff Lynne’s ELO have been confirmed for the increasingly sought after Sunday tea-time slot.

It’s a place on the bill which, particularly since Johnny Cash in 1994, has been credited with reigniting careers and boosting commercial sales. Often going out live on the BBC in the UK, it’s also reported to have commanded Glastonbury’s biggest ever crowd when Dolly Parton played in 2014.
