LCD Soundsystem’s return will include new album

LCD Soundsystem‘s return will go well beyond Coachella and include a new album at some point this year, James Murphy has confirmed.

Having put the group into retirement back in 2011, Murphy’s return to the LCD fold has just welcomed in a headline booking at the Coachella Festival next April, and in a lengthy post on the band’s official website he’s promised brand new material in 2016 will very much be a part of the comeback, which is no ‘victory lap’.

“We’re not just playing Coachella, we’re playing all over,” he wrote. “We’re not just having some reunion tour. We’re releasing a record (sometime this year—still working on it, actually), so this isn’t a victory lap or anything, which wouldn’t be of much interest to us.”

“This is just the bus full of substitute teachers back from their coffee break with new music.”

LCD Soundsystem will top Coachella along with Calvin Harris and Guns N Roses, though the exact make-up of the latter is still to be publicly confirmed.
