Keith Richards has been talking about how he was left unimpressed with both Led Zeppelin and The Who back in the day.
“I love Jimmy Page, but as a band, no, with John Bonham thundering down the highway in an uncontrolled 18-wheeler,” the veteran guitarist has told Rolling Stone. “He had cornered the market there. Jimmy is a brilliant player but I always felt there was something a little hollow about it, you know?”
Richards then turned his thoughts to Keith Moon and The Who, and explained how he felt Moon worked well with Pete Townshend but struggled outside of that environment.
“He could play to Pete like nobody else in the world. But if somebody threw him into a session with somebody else, it was a disaster.”
“There’s nothing wrong with that; sometimes you’ve got that one paintbrush, and you rock it. I just was never really interested in that many English rock and roll bands actually, at all.”

Richards is a crap guitarist anyway, three chord basher.
Richards, of course, has a right to his smack-addled opinion, but I think he’s full of shit — and I love the Stones. For me, they’re third behind Zep (No. 2) and The Beatles. But then, that’s my completely subjective top three.
Chuck Berry didn’t put up with Richards’ cr@p. Watch Hail Hail Rock & Roll if you need evidence.
Zep and the Who don’t need to put up with this either.
The only hollow thing here is the space between Keith’s ears.
