Glastonbury’s standard weekend tickets for 2016 were greedily devoured yesterday (October 4th), though last year’s sales record wasn’t quite beaten.

The tickets went in 30 minutes on Sunday morning – just touch more than the record time of 26 minutes set last year. “We have, once again, been staggered by the sheer number of people from around the world who hoped to come to the Festival, with demand significantly outstripping supply,” organisers responded in a statement.

“We’re sorry to all of those who missed out – we really wish we could fit you all in!”

The huge demand is reported despite not one of the headliners for 2016 yet being revealed. Currently, bookmakers William Hill and Ladbrokes have Coldplay and Adele as their favourites to lead the Pyramid Stage, with others including Muse, Foo Fighters and Oasis also commanding interest.

There will be one final chance to attend in 2016 when a resale for any unwanted or unpaid for tickets takes place next year.
