Dave Davies has told Rolling Stone there remains an ‘outside shot’ of a Kinks reunion.
A return was looking increasingly likely as 2013 progressed thanks to productive meetings between the Davies brothers that summer, leading frontman Ray to declare a return the ‘closest it’s ever been’ in January 2014.
But all went quiet again, and in the October of 2014 Ray was instead describing the reunion as a long way off, this time due to the turbulent relationship between Dave Davies and drummer Mick Avory.
However, Dave has now suggested that the fate of a comeback for one of the great British bands remains in the hands of himself and his brother. “I’d say there’s an outside shot,” he said. “But where there’s life, there’s hope. I know Ray has a lot coming up, and I do as well, so we’ll see how things span out in the next few months.”
They’ve left it far too late to start a reunion at their age, this should of happened at least 10 years ago and they would’ve coined it in by now.
There’s a lot of high notes sung in some of those songs, wonder if they’ll bring them down a few keys.
