Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis has ruled out Coldplay for this year’s festival.

Coldplay had emerged as a leading credible candidate to headline after eFestivals listed the band as ‘to be confirmed’. However, Eavis has told the same site they will not be at Worthy Farm in June.

“It’s not Coldplay, this is the first year that most of the rumours are wrong,” she said. “Normally, there’s someone in there who’s right, this has been our best year for secrets. Once we got Foos out the way, the rest are secret, it’s great that it’s like that, isn’t it?! Everyone has said it’s someone, but sorry about that, it’s not Coldplay.”

Florence & The Machine will also not be there according to Eavis, leaving the way open for other rumoured acts such as AC/DC, Muse and, as ever, Prince.

“She started on the smaller stage, and now she’s worthy of the headliner slot,” Eavis said of Florence Welch. “I think she’s great, I can’t give anything away. She’s not going to be headlining, but she could be.”
