Bez‘s bid to become an MP may be over before it started after he forgot the rather important detail of registering his new party with the Electoral Commission.

The Happy Mondays star launched his campaign to win a seat at the UK General Election in May earlier this week, promising community initiatives such as free public transport and free drinking water if his Reality party proved successful.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the Electoral Commission have been met with silence after writing to Bez on ‘several occasions’ to warn him that his party’s name is too similar to the Realists Party and would therefore need to register a new title.

“There’s still time for the party to submit a revised name to the Commission before candidates who want to stand for a party have to submit their nominations papers to Acting Returning Officers with the name of the registered party they are standing for,” a spokesperson said.
