The top five best selling vinyl albums of 2014 in the US have been revealed, and they bare an uncanny resemblance to those which have helped push UK vinyl sales to a two-decade high this year.

Jack White‘s ambitious ‘Lazaretto‘, with all its hidden tracks, dual speeds, hand-etched holograms and alternate mixes, is the best selling of the year in the States having already been the fastest selling since Nielsen Soundscan began collecting such data back in 1991.

It’s closely followed by Arctic Monkeys‘ ‘AM‘ and The Black Keys‘ ‘Turn Blue‘, while Lana Del Rey‘s ‘Born To Die‘ and the newly Grammy nominated ‘Morning Phase‘ from Beck complete the Top 5. All have sold at least 25,000 copies.

In the UK, sales on the vinyl format have raced past the 1m mark for the first time since 1996, with Arctic Monkeys and Jack White also the top sellers. The British Top 5 though is completed by Pink Floyd‘s ‘The Endless River’, Royal Blood‘s self-titled debut and the re-release of Oasis‘ classic ‘Definitely Maybe’.
