The Charlatans have given us a first glimpse of their forthcoming twelfth studio album in the form of ‘Talking In Tones‘ which can be heard through Soundcloud below.

The band’s first long player since 2010’s ‘Who We Touch‘ will also be their first since the untimely death of drummer Jon Brookes. On that emotional subject, keyboardist Tony Rogers has said: “Jon was adamant that there was going to be another Charlatans record, and you have to put that into your own thoughts.”

The Charlatans will be in London on October 20th for a one-off show at the Garage venue in Highbury with Grumbling Fur in support.

The period since The Charlatans’ last album has also seen them celebrate 1997’s ‘Tellin’ Stories‘ with a documentary entitled Mountain Picnic Blues. Singles such as ‘North Country Boy‘ and ‘One To Another‘ helped to deliver a true success story for the band, but once again they were hit with tragedy when keyboard player Rob Collins was killed in a car accident shortly before recording sessions were completed.
