Paul McCartney and Sting are music’s ‘richest bass players’

Bass players. Usually expected to stand at the back and make as little fuss as possible – but some of the more celebrated exponents of the often overlooked craft have done very well for themselves thank you very much.

The Richest has published its list of the ten wealthiest bass players in music, and unsurprisingly Paul McCartney comfortably leads the way.




Sting is second on the list – only just short of a billion dollars behind Sir Paul – with Gene Simmons of Kiss third. Roger Waters, who has been swelling his coffers recently with a re-imagined tour of Pink Floyd‘s ill-fated ‘The Wall‘, has a fortune of $270 million, while John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin completes the Top 5.
