Jack White’s ‘Lazaretto’ is US’ biggest vinyl seller since 1994

jackwhite1At the time of its release in June, Jack White‘s ‘Lazaretto‘ was revealed by Nielsen Soundscan to have enjoyed the biggest first weeks sales on vinyl in the US since the service began collecting such data in 1991 – 40,000 copies were snapped up during those initial seven days.

It’s only gone from strength to strength since then, and now White’s second solo album has become the States’ biggest selling vinyl LP annually since 1994. ‘Lazaretto’ has shifted 60,000 copies during the subsequent couple of of months, a figure not seen since Pearl Jam‘s ‘Vitalogy‘ two decades ago. The US’ second biggest seller of 2014 so far on vinyl is the Arctic Monkeys‘ ‘AM‘, with a total of 29,000.

It’s likely the success is in no small part thanks to the so-called Ultra Vinyl version of the album which White produced, containing hidden tracks, dual speeds, hand-etched holograms, alternate mixes and plenty more besides.
