Drenge‘s Eoin Loveless has said he finds his fellow emerging rock two-piece Royal Blood ‘too poppy’ for his taste.
“They’re really nice guys and they come up to us at every show and say hi, it’s just their stuff’s way too poppy,” he has told Digital Spy. “It’s just a bit clean for me, but they’re lovely guys and really glad they’re doing well.”
Royal Blood are heading for the top spot on the UK Album Chart with their self-titled debut album, while Drenge achieved charted success last year with their own maiden studio effort.
“I guess when a lot of bands started up around 2010 it was kind of like the height of the recession, and if you were in a band it was cheaper and better logistically if there was just two of you,” Loveless continued on the trend for guitar/drum-led duos.
