Jarvis Cocker to judge Pulp karaoke competition in New York

Jarvis Cocker will be in New York next week to judge a Pulp karaoke competition at the Industry City venue in Brooklyn.

A number of Pulp songs have been singled out for the evening, though it’s said those who avoid the band’s best known hit ‘Common People‘ will stand a better chance of being selected to compete after registering interest with organisers on Twitter. There are plenty of other modern classics to choose from anyway, such as ‘Babies‘, ‘Do You Remember The First Time?‘ and ‘Sorted For Es and Wizz‘.

The event is part of the screening of the new Pulp film A Film About Life, Death, and Supermarkets, which will also include a Q&A session with Cocker and director Florian Habicht. The documentary follows Pulp on their 2011-12 live comeback trail, culminating at the Sheffield Arena.
