As their frontman Jimi Goodwin pursues a solo career, remaining Doves bandmates and brothers Jez and Andy Williams have formed the new group Black Rivers.

The pair will make their live bow at Gullivers in Manchester on July 31st, and will then play a second headline gig at Liverpool’s Shipping Forecast venue on the first day of August before moving on to play the Kendall Calling and Belsonic festivals.

“Some bands are rooted in the reality of the here and now,” Jez says. “I suppose we’ve always been about escapism: searching for something. That’s the link, but I wouldn’t want to think we sound too much like Doves. The exciting thing about Black Rivers is that we had the freedom to go wherever we wanted.”

A debut album is planned for early 2015. Before then, a taste of what to expect can be found for free over on the duo’s official website in the form of ‘The Ship‘.
