The record for the UK’s fastest selling album of 2014 so far looks like it could be broken again this week.

Ed Sheeran‘s new LP ‘x’ has shifted 100,000 copies during its first 48 hours of release according to the Official Charts Company – a figure which should see him surpass the 168,000 copies sold by Coldplay during the first week of last month’s ‘Ghost Stories‘ record by the time the chart is confirmed on Sunday (June 29th).

Elsewhere, Kasabian are heading for another week inside the Top 10 as they prepare for Glastonbury, while Mastodon are looking like the only other Top 10 new entry with ‘Once More Round The Sun‘.

UK Midweek Album Chart, Top 10:

1/ Ed Sheeran – ‘x’

3/ Lana Del Rey – ‘Ultraviolence’
4/ Coldplay – ‘Ghost Stories’
5/ Kasabian – ’48:13′
