As Isle Of Wight prepares to kick-off the UK summer festival season in earnest this weekend, its organiser John Giddings has already been discussing his hopes for future additions of the iconic event which he brought back from the cold in 2002.
Quoted in the Daily Star, Giddings singles out Oasis, Blur and Fleetwood Mac as his top picks for future headliners whilst also reflecting on one of this year’s bill-toppers.
“I’ve been trying to get Red Hot Chili Peppers for years,” he reveals. “I remember when I looked after the Ramones. They ran on stage naked with socks over their naughty parts. I’m sure they will get up to something strange. I’ve always wanted Blur, Oasis and Fleetwood Mac so I haven’t run out of ideas.”
Giddings has also lent his thoughts on Metallica being booked for the Saturday night at this month’s Glastonbury festival, and describes the move as ‘brave’ and ‘admirable’ on the part of Michael Eavis.
Biffy Clyro will be the first main stage headliners for Isle Of Wight 2014 tomorrow (June 13th). Red Hot Chili Peppers and finally Kings Of Leon soon follow.
