A warm-up show in New York and an appearance at Governors Ball earlier this month. That’s pretty much what The Strokes‘ live appearances have amounted to since 2011’s ‘Angles‘ was followed up last year with ‘Comedown Machine‘.

They’ll be back onstage at the FYF Fest in Los Angeles in August though, and an unlikely support act has been revealed for a preparatory gig in Las Vegas on August 20th – their own guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. no less.

Hammond Jr. has been keeping himself busy during The Strokes’ downtime; releasing a handful of solo full length players and, most recently, the ‘AHJ‘ EP. He has confirmed the support slot on Twitter.

The Strokes’ major live return at Randall’s Island Park in New York witnessed a setlist from the band which stuck closely to their modern classic debut album ‘Is This It?‘. Also aired were other enduring hits from their career, such as ‘Reptilia’ and ‘12:51′.
