Carl Barat on Libertines reunion: ‘Keep July 5th free’

Carl Barat has all but confirmed his part in a Libertines reunion this summer, reports Gigslutz.

The site had a chat with Barat during his DJ set in London last weekend, when he is said to have declared the reunion rumours as ‘true’, and told everyone to ‘keep the 5th of July free’.

The Libertines’ official Facebook page is currently leading with an image of Hyde Park in London as the possibility of a first live outing for the band since 2010 gathers pace.

This after Pete Doherty was quoted by Music Charger as saying he had accepted an offer to reform. “I don’t know if I’m supposed to even tell you this, but we were offered to reform the Libertines for a show this July in Hyde Park,” he is claimed to have said. “I got the call just yesterday.”

“Well, I said yes. The thing is when I think about it now it was kind of a strange answer because I think in most days if you asked me the same question I would say no, but recently I tried to call Carl and couldn’t reach him.”

As Live4ever can personally attest, The Libertines were simply magnificent in their last comeback for the 2010 Reading and Leeds festivals, but any lingering hopes of a permanent return have quietly disappeared in the years since.
